Black Rabbit began with words. The partners in this bar and restaurant knew the name they wanted to use as well as a few words to describe what they were trying to create: mysterious, secretive, and sexy.
It was from these words that we began exploring the identity of what Black Rabbit would be. The building's storied history in Printers Alley played a large part in the direction of the brand as well.
It was quickly decided that Black Rabbit couldn't be summed up in one cute logo with a bow on top. Instead, they would utilize multiple icon elements to tell their story. Along with the sense of play and secrecy, we also developed an ambigram out of the name to be used on coasters as well as other pieces of collateral.
All in all, Black Rabbit broke all of the traditional rules – and that was a good thing.
With a hefty beverage book and enticing small plates, exquisite decor, and fun nods to the branding throughout, Black Rabbit has definitely become one of our more intricate projects that we can't help but talk about at any given chance.
